Job Description:

PPG Aerospace's Engineered Materials platform is hiring an Applications Sales Engineer for our Avon, MA site! This site falls under the newly created Engineered Materials business platform of PPG AERO. As an Applications Sales Engineer , you will provide front line support for microwave materials product lines; face-to-face, phone and email customer engagement. Travel up to 30% required, supporting PPG/CMC Manufacturer Agents and OEM Engineers with the design-in process of specialty electromagnetic materials. Responsibilities


  • Support customers, agents, and distributors with their technical needs in a timely manner
  • Consistent learner of applications and use cases for microwave materials in a variety of industries, to include military and aerospace, automotive, medical, industrial, telecom and electronics
  • Collaborate with other PPG strategic business units to optimize cross SBU opportunities
  • Relay customer and market material needs to development Engineers; work closely with R&D as a bridge to the customer on development projects
  • Review drawings and specifications for makeability; collaborate with manufacturing engineering, production and cost accounting on possibilities and limitations
  • Understand and have the ability to make test and measurements of products
  • Work with outside vendors and PPG/CMC purchasing on the requirements of outsourced technical services
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering/QC/Production/Document Control on challenges, projects and opportunities
  • Part number standardization and maintenance of other engineering information relating to custom jobs and export product classification
  • Drive sales with a focus on technical support (electrical and mechanical) of the product
  • Quote standard and custom work as required
  • Assign pricing and some cost build-ups of custom products
  • Approval of custom or non-standard orders and contracts Identify and develop new and existing accounts
  • Participate in technical discussions internally and externally as needed; present lunch and learns at key customer locations
  • Provide feedback and coordination of technical marketing data
  • Attend industry trade show events with the ability to highlight products and represent our capabilities

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering field required; Mechanical, RF, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 5 years minimum of relevant or similar industry is preferred; RF/Microwave related devices or products, electronics, antennas; rubber or foam processing, composites
  • Experience with military primes and commercial OEMs in a global environment; knowledge of both program based selling and discrete specialty materials
  • Proven track record of growing sales within a given territory and accounts
  • Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite; excellent Excel skills, Outlook, and Sales CRM software
  • Proficient skills with CAD software to modify and do some creation of 2 dimensional drawings strongly preferred.
  • Must have a high level of integrity and responsiveness to both internal and external customer
  • Excellent attention to detail is needed
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain US Security Clearance
  • Existing US Security Clearance a plus.
  • Travel up to 30% required
