Senior Accountant - Government Audit at Rea & Associates Inc.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior-level accountant to join our Government Services team. The Senior Associate role serves as a coach to associates and trusted advisors to our clients, supporting our firm and The Rea Advantage, our strategic plan.


Responsibilities:



  • Reviews and interprets overall financial results and communicates these results to the Principal and the client.

  • Communicates to the engagement team and client the potential impact of new accounting pronouncements, and uses this knowledge to identify additional client service opportunities.

  • Demonstrates expertise in applying appropriate auditing and accounting procedures and professional standards and helps the engagement team to develop these important skills.

  • Exhibits advanced skills in client research, documentation, and overall quality assurance.

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of the client’s industry to advise each client on business process improvements.

  • Ensures the overall quality of engagement teamwork products for Principal review.

  • Effectively reviews engagement team deliverables to ensure completeness and accuracy and helps the team to develop self-review skills. Monitors staff progress at appropriate intervals during engagements to ensure profitable and timely completion of work.

Qualifications:



  • Governmental auditing and federal single auditing experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree; interested and on track for the CPA exam 

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), organization, and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently on tasks and projects, while also collaborating with peers in a team-oriented environment

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Project management skills

  • Leadership, time management, negotiating, team management, and critical thinking skills

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field
