Group/Division

The Global Service Support Organization (GSS) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support. The GSS organization partners with our field teams and customers in all business sectors to maintain the high performance and productivity of our products through a flexible portfolio of services. Our comprehensive services include: proactive management of tools to identify and improve performance; expertise in optics, image processing and motion control with worldwide service engineers, 24/7 technical support teams and knowledge management systems; and an extensive parts network to ensure worldwide availability of parts.

Responsibilities (What you'll be doing)

We are looking for Associate Test Engineers for various positions in a manufacturing, who will be involved with the testing of new technologies such as, electrical and mechanical assembly, calibration, alignment, systems integration, and testing. In these positions you will work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required to resolve problems and make routine recommendations. In addition, you will:


  • Perform set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical sub-systems.

  • Determine and may develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams.

  • Test and troubleshoot assemblies and/or final systems, andcomplete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing.

  • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.

  • Work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.

  • Perform ongoing daily work with minimal instruction, and with general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

  • May provide work assignment direction and technical training to peers.

Qualifications (What we need to see):


  • You have hands-on experience with electrical and/or mechanical assembly, troubleshooting and repair.

  • Ability to work in a clean room environment is required.

  • You have the ability to work extended hours, nights and weekends.

  • Mechanical and systems level experience and troubleshooting.

  • You have experience with systems development and testing, including formulating system level requirements, test specifications and test results.

  • Hands on experience using Oscilloscopes, DVMs and other analysis tools and equipment is preferred.

  • You can use and manipulate a variety of fine adjustment hand tools, torque wrenches and calipers.

  • You work effectively across different functional teams in different locations.

  • Have excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

  • You demonstrate excellent organization skills, with a logical approach to problem solving, good time management and task prioritization.

  • You are dedicated and able to work with a minimum of supervision.

  • You hold a Technical Certificate, or AS degree, or military technical training experience, or equivalent vocational training in a technical discipline and at least 5 years of related experience.

  • A demonstrated ability to work with little or no instruction on routine work, and with general instructions on new assignments.

  • You are able to demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend technical drawings, mathematics, and handbook formulas, and use a variety of testing and measuring instruments.

  • A willingness to learn, collaborate effectively within and across teams, and strive for continuous improvement.

  • You are able to stand, sit, bend, and periodically lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.

  • General computer competence and MS Office suite software knowledge is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

Technical School or work experience of 4 - 6 years.
