Position Purpose

Manages overall production activities and processes of the production line. Determines goods and raw materials to order and ensures efficient production of sufficient product quantities to keep pace with product orders. Manages production processes workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Ensures that employees adhere to Bakery and government regulations with emphasis on safety, sanitation and quality.

Key Accountabilities


  • Ensures that our products meet the company's standards and specifications

  • Complete, legible and accurate documentation

  • Must understand and follow all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)

  • Food Safety and Quality Standard Requirements are being maintained daily

  • Must understand and comply with the company Allergen, Food Defense and HACCP policies

  • Must communicate with Supervision of any Food Safety and Equipment concerns

  • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the area worked

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships

Responsibilities


























Oversees and manages day-to-day Bakery production:


  • Lead supervisors and staff to deliver and exceed performance metrics in areas of safety, quality, customer, service, costs, inventory management and production

  • Manage, analyze, create reports, and develop recommendations from the key metrics (KPIs) of process operations and ensure execution of associated actions

  • Coordinate, control and schedule production to meet sales and marketing demand levels

  • Develop policies and procedures targeted to eliminate downtime and improve bakery efficiencies

  • Responsible for upholding, following and maintaining the requirements of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing.





Ensure compliance with all safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company policies:


  • Perform production area walkthroughs, investigate problem areas, determine cause, mitigate to ensure policy conformance


  • Ensure processing area is inspection ready at all times

  • Address and respond to new product review (PPR) questions and costing

  • To ensure adequate resources are available to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvement of the SQF system.





Evaluates Bakery performance, monitors expenses and resolves internal and customer issues:


  • Ensure production department performs within budgeted operating standards

  • Resolve variances (production reporting, ingredient usage, labor utilization)





Assists in Personnel Management:


  • Hire, train, coach and manage Production Bakery team

  • Foster positive employee relations

  • Measure employee and team performance.

  • Set forth standards for safety.

  • Ensure incident/loss prevention and security policies are followed, including accurate and timely incident investigation and execution of corrective actions

Maintain Equipment, Assisting and Safety Practices:


  • Work with Supervision and maintenance to maintain equipment in good working condition

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Correct weighing and recording of any waste to be disposed of

  • Follows all work instructions

  • Perform all other work assigned duties as required by Supervision

  • Keep work area and machinery clean

  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary for task at hand

  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures at all times

  • Utilize all safety devices

  • Report any unsafe work practices or injuries to your supervisor

  • Required to maintain a safe and clean work environment

  • Ensure all production workers complete all safety and other training in a timely manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications


  • 5 - 8 years manufacturing experience including supervisory experience


  • Production background in food manufacturing

  • Excellent leadership, communications and team building skills

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

  • 5 - 8 years manufacturing experience including supervisory experience

  • General knowledge of process equipment and regulatory compliance

  • Good writing, mathematics, analytical and critical thinking skills


  • Basic accounting knowledge

  • Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheet and word applications

  • College degree strongly preferred
