Position Overview:

As a Product Manager, you will guide a team that is charged with a product line contribution as a business unit. This extends from developing new products, to increasing the profitability of existing products for the company. You will build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You will utilize your unique blend of business and technical savvy skills to create a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision into a reality. You will spend time in the market to understand our customer's problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You will communicate with all areas of the company and work with engineering counterparts to define product requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers. A product manager's key role is primarily strategic, not tactical.


Primary Responsibilities:

Managing the entire product line life cycle from ideation and strategic planning to tactical activities through to end of life
Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
Driving a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning
Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute
Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product
Performs other duties as assigned/requested

Required Skills:

BA/BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Business, Marketing or Engineering
3+ years' of software marketing/product management experience
Strong peer credibility, interpersonal skills

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to produce presentations, reports and information for management

Preferred Skills:

Experience in Software Development Life Cycle, especially as it relates to a commercial software package implementation and customization
Transportation Industry experience desirable but not absolutely necessary
Product Management experience, from inception through to completion
Project Management best practices/ methodologies/ project lifecycle
