This position will be focusing primarily on our Motive Power applications, which include industrial lift trucks and pallet jacks, rail equipment, mining equipment, and airline ground support equipment. Some of the motive power brands include Hawker, Ironclad, General Battery, and Fiamm. Wherever there is a need for motive power, EnerSys offers the perfect energy solution.


Job Purpose


This position will manage and direct a team of electrical and mechanical engineers within the Motive Power Engineering group.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • The primary duty is to exercise discretion and independent judgment when dealing with critical matters within the Motive Power Engineering department.

  • Design batteries, battery components, and battery accessories.

  • Manage Projects for Product Development and Product Improvement.

  • Provide technical support to Management, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Service, Purchasing, Quality and other Engineering groups.

  • Oversee critical project activities, and effectively delegate and monitor other projects and tasks

  • Assure developments are launched on schedule, at required levels of quality, at cost and meeting internal and customer performance requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage and direct cross-functional/multi-cultural teams, participating in strategic planning processes, and human resource development

  • Take ultimate responsibility for performance of the team


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Computer Engineering, Physics or General Engineering)

  • 7+ years electrical/mechanical experience

  • 5 years leadership experience

  • Experience managing cross-functional/multi-cultural teams, participating in strategic planning processes, and human resource development

Reasoning Ability: Good problem solving skills and innovative design ability.

Computer Skills: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Windchill.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Not required.

Other Skills and Abilities: Experience and knowledge of Lithium batteries and Lead Batteries.

Other Qualifications: Good people skills and able to work with people with diverse educational and technical knowledge.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 10% to 25% travel is required to visit suppliers, customers, and EnerSys facilities. This includes international travel. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.
