ECS is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to work in our Arlington, VA office.
We are seeking a talented senior technical writer to support the Department of Homeland security in it's efforts to establish and mature cloud service offerings. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating across stakeholder groups to develop technical and non-technical products that support clear communications of enterprise service offerings, leadership briefings, business process operations, and the development of IT Service Management SOPs. This role will also support technical documentation efforts in response to audit support requests, the development of intraagency agreements and memorandums of understanding, and support the development of compliance documentation for system operations.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experiences working independently and in collaborative environments to plan, research, develop, and deliver SOPs, manuals, policy guides, and other work products; ensuring quality assurance standards are met or exceeded.
Successful candidates will have strong experience working in customer facing environments and be comfortable managing concurrent priorities.
In this role you will:
Develop, coordinate, track, and manage the development of technical and non-technical documents and work-products supporting DHS across a range of initiatives and customer groups
Supports cross-functional project teams consisting of application development, IT operations, and information security teams
Works with subject matter experts to define and document service offerings, standard operating procedures (SOP) and process documentation
Documents and tracks project changes, risks, and issues through resolution
Regularly meets with stakeholders to identify and document business, functional, and technical requirements
Review and recommend improvements to existing service documentation
Establish and enforce team documentation standards and QA/QC processes to ensure consistency
Supports SLA/SLO definition and development of MOA/MOUs, guidance, and policies.
Support the development of templates and standards to improve team efficiency
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree
Able to obtain DHS Public Trust
Minimum 7 years of professional experience with 5 years of experience as a technical writer or sr. analyst.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Experience developing communications products that are tailored to target audiences
Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements
Experience researching and developing technical documentation (SOPS, userguides, policies, etc.)
Familiar with software or systems development lifecycles
Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing requirements
Desired Skills:
Self-starter who can quickly acclimate to a fast-paced environment
Experience with managing Cloud Infrastructure environments (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Experience with the Atlassian Confluence and JIRA
Familiarity with DHS standards for Systems Engineering Lifecycle, Security and Vulnerability Management, and industry best practices for IT Service Management (ITSM/ITIL)
Multi-task effectively between business analysis and project management activities
