Job Description:

This position works with library administration and staff throughout Bizzell Memorial Library to implement services, policies and procedures in a manner that ensures customer service excellence and provides a welcoming and safe environment for users. The position works closely with the library administration and personnel to ensure appropriate levels of service are in place for events held in Bizzell Memorial Library. Required Education: Associate degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience AND:


  • 18-36  months of work experience in customer service or management

Skills: 


  • Ability to work with and lead diverse groups of people in respectful, equitable and inclusive ways.

  • Knowledge of general office procedures, methods and equipment.

  • Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing applications.

  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.

  • Ability to establish and sustain positive working relationships with all levels of staff – administrators, faculty, staff, and student employees – within the library and university – and with external constituencies.

  • Ability to work both independently and coordinate with appropriate personnel as required.

  • Ability to perform detail-oriented tasks, analyze needs and develop action plans, and coordinate with appropriate personnel as required. 

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively via email and telephone with customers and resolve issues and problems in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Demonstrated technology proficiency and capabilities working with personal computers and software, the Web, social media, and library-relevant information technology applications.

  • Excellent organizational, project, and time management skills. Ability to lead and/or coordinate multiple projects and to set priorities for self and others, to meet deadlines, and complete tasks and projects on time and within budget while working with minimal supervision.

  • Regular pressure to meet productivity standards; frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods; may be required to lift, bend, stoop and carry; ability to engage in repetitive motions; grasp objects with fingers or hands; communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others.
