Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy Consultant at Arhaus

Job Description:

Since 1986, our mission has been simple. We design and build heirloom quality products while holding true to our commitment to use earth-friendly materials and to give back whenever possible.  


We are looking for a strategic partner to help us shape the next phase of our long-time sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment. The initial engagement will be 3-6 months with the first ~3 months focused on assessment and the next 1-3 months helping us to prioritize action and putting together a 1-, 3-, and 5-year plan. Work directly with our Chief Marketing Officer and Sr. VP of Global Sourcing on this project and will have access to our entire Executive Team and additional resources throughout the organization.   The ideal candidate is someone who believes passionately in the value of heirloom quality artisan furniture, sustainability, and our belief in always learning and growing as a brand. 


INITIAL ENGAGEMENT: 3-6 months, with the opportunity to extend as needed.


DELIVERABLES



  • Complete a full, objective audit/assessment of Arhaus’ current state as it relates to sustainability and CSR. Assess and identify opportunities and risks within our product, manufacturing, packaging, logistics, facilities, corporate, philanthropy, branding, and stores organization. 



  • Establish Long-Term Goals and Develop a 1-, 3-, and 5-year strategic plan and budget for Arhaus Sustainability and CSR Roadmap, prioritizing actions to maximize impact and inclusive of the below areas:

    • Product Development

    • Manufacturing incl. 3rd Party Certifications / Compliance recommendations.

    • Packaging

    • Logistics

    • Facilities

    • Corporate and Stores

    • Philanthropic Opportunity

    • Marketing




  • Present an industry and cross-industry assessment focused on identifying topics, trends, and opportunities for brand and partner collaborations. One brand can’t do this alone.

  • Partner with Arhaus Business leaders to review budget and org structures and make recommendations on additional resources / assist in hiring as needed.

 


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Significant environmental sustainability strategy and compliance experience.

  • Experience developing and implementing strategic plans and budgets, preferably for large retail organizations.

  • Labor, human rights, environmental responsibility, legal compliance, industry collaborations experience.

  • Knowledge of legal laws related to Social and Environmental Compliance

  • Knowledge of Product and Material Certification Process and Landscape

  • Furniture Experience a plus, but not required.

  • Excellent leadership, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Highly Collaborative and strong cross-functional experience partnering with creative and sales teams

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment and to function at both a strategic and hands-on level
