Job Description:

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking civil engineering lab technicians for full-time positions in our Mid-Atlantic Division (MAD) to support existing and future programs. The MAD operates facilities and support contracts throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, working with several state and federal agencies.

As a civil engineering lab technician, you will conduct sampling and laboratory testing of soils, granular materials, asphalt pavement, and/or concrete, under the supervision of a civil engineer and in accordance with applicable standards.

This position requires:


  • 2-year associate’s degree in an engineering field from an accredited college, OR a minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering materials testing

  • Knowledge of laboratory certification protocols

  • At least certification from an industry-recognized agency in testing protocols related to concrete, asphalt, or soils. All technician certifications shall be from programs that require both a written test and a performance examination to demonstrate ability to perform all tests required.

Candidates must be able to obtain applicable security clearances.
