Your Responsibilities

As a Factory Automation Engineer for John Deere Ottumwa Workslocated in Ottumwa, IA, you will design / update electrical systems and prints for machines or shop floor tooling and equipment including human-machine interfaces (HMI) and programmable logic controllers (PLC). In addition you will...


  • Support of shop-floor device connectivity (torque tools, test and verification equipment, visions systems, etc.)
  • Support integration (installation and networking) of shop floor equipment and tooling into MES and PLCs
  • Innovate and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of moderate scope
  • Provide daily support for urgent production issues, including root cause analysis and resolution.

What Skills You Need


  • One (1) or more years of experience with PLCs
  • One (1) or more years of experience with engineering tools, systems and databases
  • One (1) or more years of experience with robotic systems
  • Knowledge of MES solutions (SAP-MES, AMES, JDAAT, Ignition etc.,) mistake proofing of manufacturing processes, and shop floor device connectivity
  • Strong interpersonal skills to obtain information from a variety of sources including ability to communicate and coordinate activities.

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience with various programing languages (SQL Server based software, JAVA, HTML, Python, etc.)
  • Ability to investigate a request for revising an existing machine or system or creating a new design
  • Experience with control engineering applications: AutoCAD Electrical and Rockwell / Allen Bradley suites
  • Experience with multiple communication protocols (i.e. Ethernet, EIP, OPC UA, Serial, ModBus, MQTT, DeviceNet)

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and/or relevant work experience
