The Senior Analyst – Royalties position is responsible for all accounting and analysis activities related to third party royalties. This role involves a significant amount of cross-functional collaboration with multiple stakeholders such as Business Development, Legal, Finance, Accounts Payable and even third party developers and surgeons.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepares the annual budget for the royalty rate by market and brand

  • Works closely with the legal department, finance owners, and project management teams on new commercialized projects, projections, budget, and any legal disputes

  • Updates the royalty system for any new commercialized projects, calculates any back royalties, and determines proper rate to accrue going forward

  • Calculates the quarterly royalty payments

  • Business partner with developers and Accounts Payable for changes in payment method, changes in addresses, statement requests, payment questions, etc.

  • Maintains the royalty system for any required updates for developers, contract expirations, etc.

  • Reconciles general ledger balances on a monthly basis and ensures that all payments were submitted properly in the ERP system

  • Prepares monthly royalty accrual journal entries and supplemental files

  • Assists with various audit and compliance engagements

Expected Areas of Competence


  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Aptitude for analyzing large amounts of data (potential prior experience with Alteryx or similar tools)

  • Highly motivated, self-starter that is willing to meet strict deadlines and time constraints

  • Highly organized with the ability to effectively multitask

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong accounting background and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Excellent financial analysis skills

  • Strong PC skills with an intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and JD Edwards

Education/Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with minimum of 5 years of experience in a general or cost accounting role.

  • Public accounting experience or a CPA designation would be beneficial.

Up to 5%
