Job Description:

We have an opening for a Quality Assurance Supervisor based in City of Industry, CA! This role is responsible for all aspects of leading and managing the Business Unit team. The primary purpose of Business Units is to ensure that products are produced in line with safety, quality and consumer requirements. Incumbents are responsible for ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly production KPIs are met for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature and Growth. This is a complex, fast paced production setting.


  • You will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws.

  • You will participate in the interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and correcting employees; addressing complaints and resolving barriers to success.

  • You will develop, implement and verify QA procedures and train.

  • You will ensure QA Technicians are trained and proficiently performing laboratory-testing and other procedures according to SOPs and adhere to GMPs, GLPs, QMS and Safety Program.

  • You will schedule QA Technicians for effective plant coverage.

  • You will ensure that laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained and functioning properly and maintain records of this activity.

  • You will coordinate sampling and testing activities in alignment with production.

  • You will ensure all records of testing are complete, accurate, legible, and in conformance to standard.

  • You will take immediate action to quality deviations from standard and notify QA Manager of such deviations.

  • You will follow up on consumer and customer complaints.

  • You will ensure that activities regarding HACCP, Food Quality Plan, GMPS, GLPs and QMS are performed and documented properly.

  • You will assist QA Manager and Compliance Specialist with training in SQF's Food Safety and Food Quality.

  • You will assist in internal housekeeping, GMP and Prerequisite Programs (PRP) audits.

  • You will submit required reports to QA Manager and Plant Management.

  • You will coordinate post cleaning and pre-operation inspections of equipment with the Sanitation and Operations.

  • You will investigate and correct quality issues by identifying and resolving the root cause of quality issues, in collaboration with other departments.

  • You will assist in performing "hold" procedures.

  • You will participate in the HACCP and QMS team.

  • You will maintain appropriate inventory levels on all lab supplies and chemicals.

  • You will provide prompt and accurate documentation as scheduled or requested.

About You:

Education and Experience:


  • You will have a degree in Microbiology / Food Science / Chemistry, or related field

  • You will have 3-4 years laboratory experience.

  • You will have experience in supervising QA technicians in Food Manufacturing Facility

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • You will be an effective leader of people

  • You will be capable of managing business-critical functions in a calm and systematic fashion

  • You will be organized and analytical

  • You will effectively perform complex data analysis

  • You will have excellent record keeping / documentation skills

  • You will have local and national travel to and from plant operations (requires valid driver's license)

  • You will have outstanding communication / presentation skills / report writing

  • You will have statistical analysis knowledge a plus

  • You will have proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, laboratory instrumentation, and lab equipment. Familiar with Quality Solutions Software and LIMS is a plus.
