The Laboratory Services Assistant will work to manage and support several process development organic chemistry labs at the Sarepta Andover, MA site. The role will support bench chemists and facilities by owning all aspects of laboratory support including but not limited to; solution/buffer prep, chemical ordering and receiving, glassware cleaning, waste handling, equipment maintenance, CMMS documentation, general lab cleaning and implementation of safety initiatives in the labs. Priorities are assigned weekly by Manager.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

• Developing and implementing standard work instructions for the laboratory support operations with a focus on long term development of the function


• Managing site chemical inventory and chemical compounds for both support to the labs and EH&S compliance


• Preparing Solution and Buffer-prep and raw material dispensing


• Column packing and instrument prep


• Chemical ordering and receiving, including lab supplies


• Perform weekly and monthly cleaning activities. Fill out records


• Managing and performing equipment maintenance and calibration coordination and scheduling


• General equipment servicing including equipment cleaning (rotovaps, ovens, traps, etc)


• Maintain satellite accumulation areas. Transfer SAA materials to central accumulation area when needed


• Back-up support for site shipping (DOT/IATA training to be provided)


• Lab synthesis support as required


• Sample submission for analysis


• Raw Material Sampling


• Ability to manage and develop the lab support operations while executing daily tasks as needed


• Other duties as assigned

Desired Education and Skills:

• Associates degree required with prior chemistry and lab experience preferred.


• Previous experience with (or willingness to receive training) Hazardous Waste Handling preferred.


• Computer skills using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook


• Able to handle multi-task workload and perform effectively under deadlines


• Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are necessary
