Role


Develops software applications and interfaces to support internal external customers. Assists in evaluating system requests and documenting technical specifications of system changes. As part of development team, assists in setting direction of future development standards and practices. Prepares documentation and specifications for translating requirements into detailed technical into program of coded instructions. Modifies, tests, debugs and maintains programs assigned.


This position can be located in Topeka KS, Wichita, KS or Kansas City, MO.
Remote work may be possible.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, end users and business analysts to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues. Responsible for the analysis, development and unit testing of system enhancements while ensuring compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems. Ensure code changes are checked in for source control. Manage and maintain responsibility for assigned projects.

  • Install, test, and debug new enhancements received from software vendors in accordance with standard operating procedures and practices to ensure proper utilization before implementation of the production system.

  • Assist management with accepting new projects by providing hour and cost estimates, identifying scope of system changes based on requested initiative and application and project experience.

  • Assist employees in solving routine system software, hardware and procedure problems.

  • Assist with periodic testing and implementation of contingency plans to ensure availability of applications in case of system failure.

  • Follow internal project management methodology by adhering to documentation and production change control processes when implementing application enhancements and maintenance to ensure a stable production environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Must comply with current applicable laws, regulations and bank policies and procedures. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources. 

Requirements



  • Typically three to eight years of software development experience with focus on C# and .NET as well as back end database concepts.

  • Bachelor's degree in in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.

  • Fundamental skills in data analysis, data modeling, and database development using principles of normalization and knowing when to denormalize data; debugging and troubleshooting applications; information systems flow and logic; SOA (service oriented architecture); and in developing software. Familiarity with new mobile development standards; Direct experience working with HTML5 and web sites utilizing a Responsive Design concept is preferred Knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

  • A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
