Job Description:

Howmet Aerospace is currently in search of a Senior Manager, Financial Transactions & Policy to join the Financial Accounting department in Pittsburgh, PA.

The position, which is based at the Howmet Corporate Center located on the North Shore in Pittsburgh, PA, reports to the Director of the group. The Financial Accounting (FA) department is responsible for assisting Howmet's Business Segments and Corporate Resource Units with addressing complex accounting matters and developing accounting policies for Howmet worldwide. Also, the FA department performs financial analysis and represents Howmet's financial and accounting interests associated with acquisitions and divestitures.

This position is accountable for complex accounting, analysis and reporting to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of Howmet's financial results for both internal and external purposes. The candidate would be required to analyze and evaluate accounting policies and transactions; analyze, test and report on financial data; and participate in financial and management report preparation for use by senior level management. The candidate would also be required to add interpretive value and context on accounting matters through consulting with Segment and Resource Unit management.

Major Activities/Key Challenges:


  • Evaluating, documenting, and concluding on complex accounting issues and financial transactions identified/proposed by Business Unit operating locations and Corporate Resource Unit personnel
  • Developing and implementing procedures for new accounting pronouncements and developing global accounting and reporting standards
  • Providing oversight and updating the Howmet accounting policy manual
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in several technical accounting areas such as revenue, inventory, property, leases, asset impairment evaluation, restructuring, receivables factoring and debt financing
  • Analyzing monthly financial legal entity results and summarizing findings for review by management
  • Overseeing the preparation of portions of SEC (Form 10-K/ 10-Q) filings
  • Serve as a partner with personnel within a designated Segment to provide accounting assistance
  • Partnering with Segment and Resource Unit personnel in evaluating potential acquisition and divestiture targets including performing the financial due diligence and representing Howmet's financial and accounting interests by providing input on deal structures and terms

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration/Management from an accredited institution
  • Minimum eight (8) years of financial accounting work experience
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA certification
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited institution
  • Work experience in a national public accounting firm
  • Experience with revenue recognition, inventory, property, lease and benefits accounting, asset impairment evaluation, restructuring and implementing new GAAP accounting standards
  • Knowledge of due diligence objectives and procedures; experience working on acquisitions and divestitures
  • Strong communicatino, technical writing, and analytical skills
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC accounting and reporting requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
