Description of Position:

The Senior Accountant performs the daily responsibilities of IT Finance related to the review, analysis, reconciliation, and maintenance of balance sheet and SG&A accounts. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for the recording of transactions in PeopleSoft and the monthly closing of the general ledger and provides support to departmental projects, Operational and Capital budgeting and forecasting, and other ad-hoc requests.


The Senior Accountant will be working onsite in our beautiful building in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.


Organizational Relationships:

The senior associate will report directly to the IT Finance Manager. The senior associate will collaborate with IT Finance team and directly with various corporate, regional and store personnel, as well as the IT Operations Management team, in the performance of review, analysis, reconciliation, and maintenance of balance sheet and SG&A account responsibilities.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining IT operating and IT capital budgets totaling approximately $150M, including budgeting and forecasting for 15-20 Corporate IT Departments, 230 retail locations, and 10-15 key investment areas.

  • Review reported contractor activity for any missing work hours or invoices and prepare month-end accrual. Investigate missing invoices or billing discrepancies.

  • Review consultant and fixed-fee managed service contract activity and accrue professional fees incurred at month-end. Investigate missing invoices or billing discrepancies.

  • Review various cloud hosting usage reports as well as T&E reports and prepare accrual for expenses incurred.

  • Review the Open Purchase Order (PO) report and prepare accrual for any expenses incurred.

  • Review Accounts Payable register after cutoff and accrue for any expenses incurred but not captured in the other IT Finance accruals.

  • Work with the Tax department and store controllers on sales tax audits and provide supporting documentation.

  • Prepare the monthly corporate reporting package for director review.

  • Research and respond to IT directors’ and store controllers’ inquiries.

  • Assist in monthly SG&A variance analysis against budget and forecast for IT corporate departments and prepare resulting entries.

  • Assist in monthly review, maintenance, and reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts including accrued expenses and IT prepaid expenses (e.g. hardware maintenance contracts, software subscriptions, cloud-based hosting, or professional services).

  • Assist in the Capital Expenditure Request (CER) process to ensure proper accounting for corporate and store IT hardware, internally developed software, SaaS configuration, recurring operational costs, or other project-related costs.

  • Reconcile and review balance sheet accounts related to SaaS and prepare monthly amortization entries.

  • Reconcile, review, and prepare fixed asset transfer entries for corporate and store IT hardware purchases, internally developed software, and configured purchased software.

  • Prepare quarterly work-papers and reconciliations for external auditors.

  • Maintain proper documentation for processes pertaining to position.

  • Assist in the planning, execution, and reporting of special projects undertaken by IT Finance.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Four (4) year degree in Accounting

  • 3+ years experience

  • Strong technical accounting skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong MS Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PeopleSoft experience

  • Ability to work independently, taking ownership of all assigned tasks with consistent level of accuracy

  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity, and professionalism

  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, auditing, and follow-up skills

  • Proven ability to perform under deadlines and adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements
