The Global Legal team is responsible for administering Hilton's legal activities to ensure maximum protection while engaging in global business and ensuring compliance with the company's legal obligations.

What will I be doing?

As Paralegal, Development Americas, you will provide paralegal support for the franchise regulatory compliance team, which sits within the larger Legal Development - Americas practice group. The focus of this role will be on writing, updating, and maintaining Hilton's franchise disclosure documents and regulatory filings globally. This involves balancing multiple workstreams and working with each of the company's business departments and regional offices around the world.

This role also involves legal research and maintaining internal tools and resources. In addition, you may be called upon to assist the broader Legal Development - Americas team in support of transactional matters as needed. This may include providing support for new hotel franchise and management agreements, amendments, and a variety of other transactional matters.

More specifically, under the supervision of an attorney you will:


  • Write, update, and maintain Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) for each of the company's 17 hotel brands. Currently, Hilton produces about 120+ FDDs per year.
  • Draft, update, proofread, and prepare other legal documents and correspondence, including standard form franchise agreements and addenda, guarantees, lender comfort letters, and other documents as needed.
  • Prepare, file and maintain U.S. franchise registrations and exemptions.
  • Form positive working relationships with state franchise examiners to support Hilton's franchise regulatory filings.
  • Similarly, build positive working relationships with Hilton's Legal Development practice groups in Europe and Asia to prepare and coordinate the completion of FDDs and franchise registrations abroad.
  • Regularly engage with business departments to acquire the information needed for each FDD and assist them with disclosure questions that arise.
  • Perform legal research on evolving franchise regulations, update and manage internal tools and resources to keep them current.
  • Provide support for special projects, and help coordinate work with outside counsel when needed. Also providing some administrative support as needed.
  • Remote work schedules may be accommodated. Generally, no travel is required, however, offsite Global Legal Department meetings may occur periodically in the future.

What are we looking for?

We believe the success in this role will demonstrate itself through excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and word processing proficiency. It also requires the ability to balance and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:


  • Paralegal certificate
  • Five (5) years of legal experience
  • Three (3) years working in a corporate legal department or law firm
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Experience with PDF applications such as Adobe and Foxit, along with SharePoint • Experience with legal matter management, expense, and billing systems such as TeamConnect and Concur

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Seven (7) years of experience
  • Experience in the franchise, securities, or corporate practice areas
  • Experience in other practice areas, such as commercial contracts or real estate, can also be desirable based on actual experience and confidence in managing critical documents on firm deadlines
  • High attention to detail and precision in legal writing, together with a common-sense understanding of the legal and business purposes the documents serve
