U.S. Silica is a global performance materials company and a leading producer of commercial silica used in a wide range of industrial applications and in the oil and gas industry. SandBox Logistics® is a state-of-the-art leader in proppant storage, handling, and well-site delivery, dedicated to making proppant logistics cleaner, safer, and more efficient. During our 121-year history, we have developed core competencies in mining, processing, logistics, and materials science that enables us to produce and cost-effectively deliver over 400 diversified product types to customers across our end markets. As of December 31, 2020, we operated 23 production facilities across the United States. We control 489 million tons of reserves of commercial silica, which can be processed to make 197 million tons of finished products that meet American Petroleum Institute ("API") frac sand specifications, and 79 million tons of reserves of diatomaceous earth, perlite, and clays.


The Company is headquartered in Katy, Texas and has an office located in Reno, Nevada.


The primary responsibilities of this position will be to guide, organize, and direct the hourly workforce in conjunction as well as managing plant operations on the PM shift. This position will plan and schedule production and mining activities to meet production goals as well as work towards controlling plant costs through effective planning and management.


Essential Job Functions:



  • Plan and schedule necessary downtown with production departments. 

  • Communicate production issues to Operations Superintendent and identify areas for improvement. 

  • Manages specific production areas as directed by Operations Superintendent. 

  • Assist the Operations Superintendent with the development and execution of safety plans. 

  • Performs administrative duties required to meet job goals including planning, scheduling, and reporting. 

  • Follow and promote all safety regulations and report any hazardous conditions immediately. 

  • Assist Operations Superintendent to ensure development and execution of production activities as outlined within the operations plan. 

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills: 



  • High School diploma.


  • Organization:

    • Due to handling a multitude of tasks, good organizational skills only enhance chances of success.




  • Cooperation:

    • Must work well with others including adapting to a variety of personalities.




  • Problem Analysis

    • Must be a logical thinker and possess good troubleshooting abilities.

    • Quick thinker and decisive on direction.




  • Knowledge Area

    • Engineering or related background.

    • Experience in managing others in a Union environment.

    • Management background preferred or equivalent background as Operations Supervisor in mining or a similar field.




  • Excellent Computer Skills:

    • Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel.




  • Special Skills:

    • Ability to handle several tasks and bring projects and assignments to closure in a timely manner.

    • Proactive type of person.



Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: 



  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or combination education and on-the-job experience. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of in similar capacity preferably in mining.

Travel Requirements:



  • Twice a month or more.

  • Requires valid driver's license and liability insurance.
