You Will Be Responsible For:
Will follow The Joint Commission Standards, AORN and CDC guidelines.
Assesses patient and family needs to provide necessary data to health care team to ensure quality total care.
Completes gathering of data to analyze and make assessment of nursing needs to formulate the initial nursing care plan including discharge plan.
Identifies and reports abnormalities or instabilities of the patient’s condition to anesthesia or surgeon, after admission assessment.
Observes and assesses each assigned patient during their stay in outpatient surgery department.
Documents all medications and drug allergies in i-Connect.
Stamps and compiles patient charts according to unit policy.
Records appropriate information on hand-off report and in i-Connect per department policy.
Identifies and records patient/family needs providing pre-op and post-op teaching.
Demonstrates the skill and judgment necessary to implement physician's orders, procedures and nursing intervention.
Implements nursing interventions and physician's orders accurately and promptly.
Accurately prepares and administers medications and IV fluids according to orders and hospital policy.
Ensures that each patient is prepared and ready prior to scheduled operating time.
Accurately prepares and administers blood and blood products according to orders and hospital policy.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
Currently licensed to practice as an RN in the state of Texas or qualifying compact state.
One year of full time previous experience as RN on surgical floor or recovery room, preferably surgical unit.
Job Summary:
The Pre-Op RN practices as a professional nurse within the limits of the Texas Nurse Practice Act assuming responsibility and accountability for the outpatient surgery patients for a designated time frame utilizing skills, knowledge and the nursing process to ensure the quality of care provided and in harmony with the philosophy, goals and policies of the Nursing Department and hospital administration.
