North Texas Regional Admissions Counselor at University of Oklahoma

Job Description:

OU Office of Admissions & Recruitment (OAR) works to bring in the next generation of Sooners. Our team operates from Norman as well as across the state, nation and world. We provide support to incoming domestic and international freshman and transfer students as they navigate the college application and decision process. Additionally, we partner with parents, counselors, and communities in providing resources to students interested in higher education. Our goal is to build a vibrant, inclusive community on campus by recruiting students with diverse backgrounds, educational experiences, and involvement.

We're currently looking for a new team member for our North Texas region to serve as an Admissions Counselor.  This position is remote and will reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The admission counselor position manages new undergraduate student recruiting in a North Texas, designated territory, develops and executes recruiting strategies and activities, and participates in admission application review and processing. This person also interprets admission policies and procedures and responds to all manner of questions regarding admission from prospective students, parents, high school and college counselors, alumni, OU faculty and staff, colleagues and the public. There is a strong cultural emphasis on customer service.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:


  • 0-24 months recruitment experience

Skills:


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Must have exceptional communication skills, both written and oral and strong public speaking skills

  • Must be able to work successfully with a diverse group of students, parents, faculty and staff

  • Must be highly organized; able to work independently and establish and meet deadlines while working with a high volume of assignments

  • Strong analytical skills required

  • Must value being part of a team and be able to work in partnership with others

  • Must have a professional manner and appearance

  • You will meet with prospective students, families, alumni, and high school counselors at events which will take place at schools, designated locations, college fairs and on campus

Certifications:


  • Valid driver's license to attend schools and events.

Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to pull, push, lift, engage in repetitive motions, speak, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see, including color, depth perception and clarity; and hear, including receiving detailed information orally.

Departmental Preferences:


  • Experience working with high school aged students is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the University of Oklahoma.

Supervision: No Supervisory Duties
