Position Overview

Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator’s manage the quantifying, visualization, and computer modeling of construction projects. They work closely with estimators, project managers, engineers, BIM Modelers, architects, and clients to create a cohesive construction plan. VDC Coordinators need to have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, along with technical expertise and problem solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Use design and modeling software to support requests given during pursuit and award of heavy civil construction projects

  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, engineers, BIM Modelers, architects, and clients 

  • Determine the proper elements and scale for construction sites

  • Gather and analyze data on costs, materials, and labor

  • Meet deadlines

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other related field preferred.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of BIM modeling and Autodesk Revit software

  • Knowledge of earthwork takeoff and AMG integration software

  • Knowledge of Bentley and Civil 3d drafting software

  • Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to understand technical drawings and plans

  • Ability to create verifiable reports for pursuit, progress and payment

  • Ability to create exhibits from digital delivery workspace

  • Keen attention to detail

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
