PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for developing, improving and administering supplier or external provider qualification and approval processes, and assisting with material and certification nonconformance corrective actions, monitoring supplier risks, quality goals, KPIs, and other projects to enhance the overall supply chain performance and quality at Castle Metals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (performs other duties as assigned):


  • Manage and improve supplier qualification and re-evaluation processes and obtain documentation required for initial setup, performance monitoring, certification status tracking, requalification and other purposes.

  • Develop, improve and administer approved suppliers list, and record repository for approved suppliers retained information per Quality, Supply Chain and Legal requirements.

  • Facilitate communication and coordination with suppliers and Castle Metals' supply chain, quality, legal and trade compliance teams to verify, maintain and update required information.

  • Assist Sourcing and Product Specialists in developing methodologies for identifying key suppliers. Participate in supplier selection process as needed, provide input to decision-making process.

  • Assist with tracking and reporting supplier quality and performance goals and KPIs, and assist with working with suppliers, Castle branches, sourcing, and supply chain to improve performance through collaborative root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

  • Assist with review and documentation of material and certification nonconformances, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Work as a liaison between suppliers and internal functions (Operations, Quality, & Sales) to clarify requirements, reduce waste, and improve definition of requirements. Assist Sales, Quality, and Supply Chain with any specific supplier processing questions.

  • Assess and mitigate supplier risks.

  • Assist with programs to identify, quantify, and mitigate Supply Chain and external provider risks. Assist with the identification and audit of high risk suppliers. Collaborate on the creation of effective risk mitigation strategies and programs.

  • Improve inbound receiving inspection and risk based material receipt process.

  • Assist with managing and measuring an effective, timely and efficient supplier or external provider claims process. Collaborate, as needed, with supplier, Operations, and Quality to disposition material and create appropriate Accounting debit memo.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Associate's - Degree Program: Material Science / Materials Engineering or Related field

  • Minimum of two (2) years of metals manufacturing, processing and/or supply chain experience.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong computer analysis skills. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software and analysis tools.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to communicate with suppliers and positions at all levels

  • Product and metals processing knowledge

  • Mill Industry knowledge: Mill Supply and Raw Material Business Cycle, capability, business strategy and direction

  • Domestic travel (est. up to 10%) and some occasional International travel to site locations required (est. < 5%)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • General office environment (keyboard, mouse, telephone use)

  • Manual dexterity (grasp, hand/wrist movement)
