About the Role:

Advanced Automotive Positioning - this Division is focused on the automotive and adjacent transportation segments. Trimble has served the automotive positioning market since 1990 and has numerous design wins associated with ADAS and autonomous vehicle applications. Our customers include both established and emerging vehicle OEMs and their Tier 1 partners developing technology stacks for autonomous vehicles.

We are currently recruiting for a Hardware Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA. This role has a focus on resolving product application issues related to hardware, design improvements, and new designs leveraging current product platforms.

Current designs include positioning solutions combining GNSS, inertial sensors (IMU), and an application processor hosting Trimble's positioning software. Our products range from coin-sized surface-mount modules for integration in customer systems to self-contained positioning systems suitable for a wide variety of aftermarket positioning applications.

What You Will Do:

For success in this role, the engineer has analytical thinking, attention to detail, methodical, and possesses both the energy and focus to drive multiple projects to a successful conclusion and assumes ownership of the entire process. Trimble and this division, in particular, is a highly collaborative environment much like a startup, but with the resources of a $3B+ highly profitable corporation backing you up. With design teams and technical experts around the globe, a successful hardware engineer will both leverage these resources and become a contributor across the corporation. The Division's roadmap includes products that will find purchase outside of the immediate Division and Sector.

Our products are small embedded systems. An engineer with a broad knowledge base covering RF, analog, and digital design is a great background for this role.

Background Requirements:

• BSEE or MSEE background




• 5+ years of broad-based embedded systems experience




• Previous experience with deep root cause analysis on low-cost high-quality standards.




• Experience debugging embedded systems, solving complex system-level issues, and analyzing data.




• Development of embedded systems running embedded firmware.

Preferred Experience:

• A combination of digital, analog, and RF (e.g. BT, WIFI, GNSS) hardware design




• Development of high-volume products for harsh environments with high-quality expectations.
