Director, Customer Development – CVS

Location:  Foxboro, MA

Summary of Position:

Lead a cross-functional team to achieve strategic business results and brand objectives in the Drug Channel.  Responsible for the career development of 3 direct reports across the Family Care, Baby & Child Care and Adult and Feminine Care businesses.  Model the One K-C behaviors to effectively influence within K-C and with the retailer.


  • Strong understanding of marketing place dynamics, brand and customer strategies and customer segmentation models. 

  • Ability to think and operate in an agile manner.

  • Strong communication skills to clearly articulate opportunities and risks and influence both internal and external decision making.  To be a strong voice of the customer.

  • Provide leadership to ensure Kimberly-Clark attracts, develops and retains best talent.  Foster a diverse and inclusive workplace which motivates and inspires all team members to bring their best every day. 

  • Strong analytical skills to fully use capabilities, tools and data to create fact-based selling narratives to achieving desired business results. 

  • Deliver volumes, market share goals and profit objectives.  Manage trade within approved budgets.  Deliver overheads within approved budgets.  Strong forecast and demand planning skills to provide input to business operations.

  • Provide customer development and business sector management with accurate and timely reporting and information (e.g., expenses, deductions, loyalty & personalization, CMG, Nielsen, competitive activity, etc.).

  • Strong financial acumen (Customer P&L, TPM, VFM, etc.) to drive positive ROI and partner with Revenue Growth Management to drive continued business plan efficiencies.  Responsible for full customer P&L.

  • Ability to build and leverage networks, internally, externally and with the customer.  Demonstrates the ability to influence without authority.

  • Ability to collaborate with peers and leadership team.

  • Ability to think creatively and develop solutions to challenges.

General:


  • Ability to adapt and support the organization through times of change.

  • Strong ability to clearly and precisely communicate orally and in writing to individuals and groups, including General Managers, Vice Presidents, Sr. Vice Presidents and CEO.  

  • Strong ability to quickly comprehend and influence appropriate Commercial departments with issues or problems. 

  • Ability to build strong ongoing personal and business relationships at various levels with customer Directors, Vice Presidents, Sr. Vice Presidents and CEO.

  • Ability to develop and build skilled talent pipeline for K-C.

  • Ability to structure and manage multiple priorities and projects in a timely manner and create winning strategies for teams to implement.  

  • Ability to operate and use telephone, computer/laptop and other technological devices/software programs to communicate with other people.

  • Ability to proficiently use and perform key functions of various software programs.

  • Ability to travel via aircrafts, and operate and drive motor vehicles for business travel, with valid driver license.

Department Specific/Non-Essential Functions, Included but not Limited to:


  • Reflect leadership, supports change, welcoming open communication and contributes good relations throughout the company.

  • Utilize Talent and Performance Management Principles to ensure performance reviews and career development resumes are conducted on timely basis.  Develop personnel plans to accelerate growth of high potential team members and manage performance team members. Provide quality insights and feedback.

  • Ensure Customer Development team is in compliance with Corporate Human Resource Policies and government regulations, such as OSHA, EEOC, ADA, FMLA and ADEA.

  • Establish team procedures and programs alignment with national policy to ensure efficient, orderly and safe operations; analyze, control and improve performance, and measure deputies’ performances.

  • Promptly reconcile and communicate changes and conduct team adjustment to new changes. Adjusting to meet requirements of changing conditions/situations. Maintain effectiveness of varying environments with different tasks, responsibilities and people. 

  • Render judgments and make timely decisions in alignment with business objectives. Set priorities and proactively identify issues, underlying problems and potential solutions to develop plan of action. Evaluate cause and effect relationships.

  • Keep team leader informed on status of plans and programs, changing conditions, requirements of marketplace, competitive activity, issues and accomplishments that may affect sales results.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Education required: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. 

  • Experience: At least 10 years of progressive exempt/upper level management experience, extensive global business knowledge, proven superior success in business management required (e.g., District Team Leader, National Merchandising Manager, Brand Marketing Management, etc.).    

Preferred:


  • Experience/Qualifications: Complete knowledge in class of trade serviced by U.S. Customer Development, Kimberly-Clark organizational structure, brands and categories, sales and marketing procedures, human resources and financial policies and procedures. Knowledge of and experience with K-C planning process and TPM software is a plus.

  • Skills/Competencies: Results, strategies and visions orientation, leadership, organization development, financial and budget management, ethical judgment and decision making, brand development, change management, team management and business intuition

  • Other Skills: Building strong relationships, prioritization and time management, resources and team management, cross-cultural, analytic, cognition and social perspectives 

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to Vice President/General Manager – Customer Development

Scope of Position: 

Expected to comprehend overall corporate, sales, marketing and general business objectives to ensure volume and contribution objectives are met. Direct reports may approximately encompass (5-20) team members.

Working Conditions:

Travel up to (35%) of the work time. Travel may also include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations. May include prolong periods of sitting, typing, viewing computer/laptop screens, along with occasional bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, twisting, stooping and standing.
