Job Purpose


This position will be part or the Transportation Applications Engineering Team. He/she is responsible for Transportation and Specialty product finishing designs and BOMs, creates cost estimates, sustaining product requirements, packaging designs and configurations, and maintenance of reference documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  1. Create detailed assembly and packaging component drawings for make and buy items.

  2. Understand and comply with agency dictated packaging and marking requirements.

  3. Create 3-dimensional CAD, Solidworks and CREO models of packaging components and assemblies.

  4. Create and release product BOM's for production usage in several different ERP systems.

  5. Maintain existing product finishing design drawings and BOMs.

  6. Execute design releases and changes in accordance with the required system procedures.

  7. Manage finishing design projects as assigned.

  8. Verifying, reconciling, and reporting the design outputs relative to the inputs.

  9. Work closely with cross-functional departments to assist with timely, low cost, high quality design solutions.

  10. Maintain reference documentation.

  11. Customer specifications repository and ensures product design compliance to customer specifications.

  12. 15-25% travel as required.


Education & Experience



  1. 2-4-year degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field preferred.

  2. Preferable 2+ years experience in a quality system driven manufacturing environment generating and handling engineering change processes documentation.

  3. Proficient with Microsoft suite of software, CAD, Solid Works preferred

  4. Understanding of ERP systems. Windchill / Baan preferred. SAP a plus.

  5. Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with customers, field sales and company contacts.
