We are seeking a full-time Data Engineer 2 (Business Intelligence Developer) for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will maintain and enhance our Big Data Ecosystem used to study the performance and patterns of millions of connected devices. Ultimately contributing to the creation of intelligence for new opportunities, product ideas and improvements, and learning to master Business Intelligence processing and visualization.
Participates in design, code, test, maintenance, enhance and decommission phases throughout the software life cycle to contribute technical expertise and to identify complex issues
Writing, validating, and testing complex SQL queries.
Participate in and help guide research POCs, through data investigation and tool analysis
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
Assists team to develop reliable solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity
Contributes input to broader technology solutions outside of the discipline
Demonstrates professional maturity through giving and receiving constructive feedback
Basic Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field
Minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience
Outstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
Works well in a team environment
Experience with BI software systems such as QLIK, Tableau or MS Power BI
Knowledge in either
Big Data Platforms such as Hadoop, Spark SQL, Cassandra, etc.
Relational DBs such as Big Table, MySQL, MS SQL Server, etc.
Familiarity with the development of ETL processes using tools such as SSIS, Informatica, or Alteryx
Experience with or foundations in Distributed Systems
Detail-oriented with a passion for digging into data
Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python
Experience with JAVA
Experience with SQL
Experience with Spark and Scala
Superior academics
Experience with Container platforms such as PCF, Docker or Kubernetes
