Position Description:
The Quality Engineer (QE) will be responsible for providing QE support for FMH/PDT. The QE will team with Engineering, Procurement, and other cross-functional organizations to drive the business and its suppliers to achieve quality, cost, and delivery goals. The Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for building quality into manufacturing processes at AMETEK FMH/PDT. This position will utilize standard statistical analysis and problem-solving techniques to determine product acceptance limits, establish process parameters, resolve quality problems, and update standards. A strong background in advanced quality at an industrial manufacturing facility is expected. The QE reports directly to the Quality Manager and has a hands-on approach to quality.

• This position requires access to controlled data or information and therefore only US persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor we are bound by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ( ITAR ).

Position Requirements:
The Successful Candidate will:
Have a proven track record of success in the commercial and military aerospace industry. Will remain professional while multi-tasking in a manufacturing environment with fast-changing priorities. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. And will have experience working in cross functional teams that identify and implement quality, manufacturing, and engineering solutions.
• Prepare first article inspection reports in AS9102 or other formats
• Support and supervise customer source inspections
• Serve as Customer-Delegated Quality Representative to release product. Note: will require completion of customer-specific training course(s)
• Perform contract review of customer purchase orders, specifications, statements of work or other documents as relates to quality requirements
• Represent QA as part of the Integrated Product Development Team for new product development projects
• Implement effective corrective and preventative actions
• Manage supplier and customer escapes
• Develop, manage, present, and distribute quality metrics such as Cost of Poor Quality or other Key Process Indicators (KPI’s)
• Support Monthly Program Reviews
• Support Management KPI Meetings
• Review/modify quality requirements for supplier purchase orders, as required
• Manage nonconformance/ MRB/deviations
• Exhibit proficiency with Excel and database management
• Prepares, issues, and maintains detailed audit schedules and reports and other quality records.
• Gathers and compiles customer documentation requirements and assists expediting the documents through the system until final approval from customers is achieved.
• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings, including MRB and drawing reviews.
• Assist in analysis and resolution of receiving and in-house quality related issues as required.
• Demonstrates a continuous effort to promote quality, to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality internal and external customer service.

• Highly adaptable, effective team player with the ability to develop, lead, and sustain change activities
• Self-motivated with strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated track record of accomplishments
• This individual will be required to provide leadership and Quality technical support within the programs’ value streams.

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited college or university.
3-5 years of experience in either Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) designations are advantageous, and ERP experience desired
Three (3) or more years of responsible Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience in a manufacturing.
Exposure to 5S, 6 Sigma (or other Quality related tools) and AS9102
Requires knowledge of
Engineering theory, drawings, GD&T, and terminology.
Quality management systems, including ISO 9001.
Quality assurance inspection and test procedures.

Requires highly developed communication, interpersonal skills and critical thinking and problem-solving skills; time and project management skills; detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Requires the ability to learn and understand customer and industry specifications and requirements applicable to our products

License, Certification, or Preferred Qualifications:
Prior FAA DMIR training/certification is a plus
AS9102 auditing certification is a plus
knowledge of FAA 14CFR Part 21 and FAA 14 CFR Part 145 requirements is a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Environment: Office environment; frequent interruptions. Will include visits to manufacturing plants and construction sites with proximity to machinery having moving parts. May include exposure to extreme weather conditions, noise, chemicals, fumes, odors and gasses. When working appropriate safety training and safety equipment will be provided by PDT and/or the customer as required.

Physical Abilities Required:
Ability to hear and speak to exchange information in person and on the telephone; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment; ability to see to read a variety of materials; ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to store or retrieve materials; ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Tools Used:
Personal computer and software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, Access).
Standard office equipment, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, calculator, and others as required.
