Reports to Manager. Examines and tests human specimens to obtain information for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients. Maintains daily patient log and enters test results on forms, properly logging all blood samples and urine drug screens. Maintains equipment, keeps inventory and orders supplies, maintains cleanliness of laboratory using Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of some college or vocational training. ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification is required. Up to 1 year experience is required. Related medical laboratory experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Requires in-depth knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory equipment and testing to perform lab tests, quality control checks and maintain instrumentation and skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests.
Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly, both oral and written.
Demonstrates ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in the laboratory and follow written protocols.
Demonstrates ability to anticipate and react calmly to emergency situations.
Working Conditions
Requires ability to follow universal precautions and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Physical Demands
Requires ability to stand for long periods of time, walk short distances and lift up to 35 pounds.
Requires visual acuity, normal color perception and full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
