Job Description:

The Director, Peer Services reports to the Executive Director, Behavioral Health Services and provides direct supervision and support to the Peer Operated Center located at the DC Hope Center. This program is directed by Peers who support recovery from Opioid and Stimulant use disorders specifically and substance use and mental health concerns generally.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Operational and Administrative responsibility for the operation of the Peer Operated center.

  • Collaborate with clinical partners within the DC Hope Center regarding shared participants.

  • Participate and Contribute as a member of the DC Senior Leadership team attending all team meetings.

  • Must be highly skilled at connecting lived experience of substance use/mental health service with clinical treatment. Supervise Peers in this activity and ensuring their ability to effectively communicate their position as apart of the the clinical team.

  • Supervise Peer Support team activities to assess service activities and therapeutic options for families they serve that will contribute to their healing and support and assist the peer to communicate that information to the treatment team.

  • Focus on partnership building within the community Ward 4 and Ward 5 neighborhoods.

  • Lead and supervise all center activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or designee.


EXPECTATIONS


  • Lead a team of paid and volunteer staff to offer the services and supports of the Peer Operated Center.

  • Facilitate the collection of data and information to ensure contract compliance with reporting standards.

  • Use Peer Supervision EBPs to support staff and clients.

  • Active member of the DC Senior Leadership team.

EFFECT ON END RESULT


  • Create a vibrant, peer directed environment in the peer operated center that the community recommends and uses to its fullest capacity.

  • Demonstrated participant outcomes both qualitative and quantitative.

  • Ensure that all activities are in alignment with VOACC policies and procedures.

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.

  • The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment. ­

  • Move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment.

  • Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.

  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.

REQUIREMENTS


  • Bachelors Degree in Human Services i.e. social work, sociology, psychology, education. Masters level or license a plus not required.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing peer support services.

  • Lived experience as a person who was involved in the mental health or substance use systems.

  • Proven management experience in the area of budgeting, finance and supervision of staff and program development.

  • Obtained certified Peer Specialist Supervisor or must obtain in the first 6 months of employment.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification, must be acquired and maintained once employed

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and respond in crisis situations.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to use independent judgment and address conflict and find resolutions.

  • Bilingual in any language a plus.




Salary: $75,000.00
