Research Analyst - Center for Communication Science at RTI Research Triangle Institute

RTI's Center for Communication Science seeks a Research Analyst to provide communication campaign support. RTI's Center for Communication Science is a mission-driven organization that tackles critical problems in public health, financial wellbeing, and the environment, international development, and social justice. We are a team of behavioral scientists and communication strategists with deep expertise across the entire communication continuum, who work to research, design, and deliver effective communication interventions.

We are looking for an inspired, talented, and creative, strategic thinker and doer. This person will bring excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; the ability to establish effective working relationships with managers and coworkers; attention to detail; organization and prioritization skills, as well as the ability to support multiple staff and deal effectively in a fast-paced work environment. This position is open to individuals interested in working from our headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, or one of RTI's regional offices, as well as potentially as a telecommuter-some travel is likely.

Responsibilities to include, but not be limited to:


  • Conduct and synthesize findings from literature reviews and environmental scans

  • Assist with developing and refining communication products, including messages, concepts, materials, and interventions

  • Manage participant recruitment logistics

  • Coordinate qualitative and quantitative research activities

  • Support management of client communication activities (e.g., social media, digital ads placement)

  • Assist with pretesting messages, concepts and materials and conducting usability testing of digital products such as websites, apps, decision-support tools

  • Provide project management support and coordination, including taking meeting notes, tracking progress on project tasks and deliverables, and monitoring timelines and budgets

  • Assist with proposal development

  • Additional duties to be identified in collaboration with supervisor and project teams








Minimum Qualifications:


  • BA/BS in Communication, Design, Sociology, Anthropology, Public Health, or equivalent

  • One year of experience with communication and research activities from coursework, internships or professional work

  • Attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Outstanding organizational, verbal, and written skills

  • Ability to work both self-directed and in a team

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future

Desired Skills:


  • Experience with social media listening tools and processes (e.g., Crimson Hexagon or similar) is a plus

  • Experience developing, scheduling, and tracking social media content and using social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Canva).

  • Multicultural or bilingual communication skills

The anticipated pay range for this role is between $54,600 - $72,800.

RTI considers multiple factors when making an offer including, for example, established salary range, internal budget, business needs, and education, and years of work experience possessed by the applicant. Further, salary is merely one element to our offer.
