Haskell is seeking a Design Associate I - Structural to join our team in St. Louis, MO!
The Design Associate I - Structural will be motivated to grow in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary project environment within the structural group and within collaborative design teams. They will be responsible for the structural design of basic elements for assigned projects. Work will be of increasing complexity to meet eligibility requirements to take the professional licensing exam.
Haskell's Design & Consulting Services (DCS) Group unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. While some clients are looking for turnkey design-build or engineer-procure-construct projects, the DCS Group serves clients who need specialized, fee-for-service design or consulting projects. These types of projects allow our team to form a strong rapport with client teams, marshaling them as they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges. The DCS Group serves four primary markets: Government, primarily Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Air and Army National Guard, and the U.S. Naval Facilities Command; Industrial, focusing on food and beverage, consumer products, and utilities; Civil Infrastructure; and Healthcare.
Job Responsibilities:
Application of Building Systems Knowledge:
Produces calculation/documents.
Develops a basic understanding of the various model building and materials codes.
Analysis: Prepares clear, complete and concise calculations including software models.
Detailing: Develops all details necessary for assigned elements.
Prepares design criteria for all projects.
Responsible for the production of well-organized structural documents and calculations which are accurate, clear, concise, and complete.
Participates in design reviews with the design team at 30% and 100% on all assigned projects.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) from an accredited university in engineering or other degree related to the structural engineering profession.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications, Etc.:
Working knowledge of building code requirements and various structural system materials via coursework and work experience.
Ability to work with a laptop, tablet (iPad or Microsoft equivalent), and mobile devices.
Ability to access project information remotely when working outside the office using VPN and/or Citrix.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to work within both AutoCAD and Revit or other 3D modeling software a plus.
