SUMMARY

Investment Risk and Analytical Services (IRAS) provides Investment Performance and Risk Measurement reporting and analysis, Compliance Guideline Monitoring, and Private Markets reporting and analysis across the Corporate ERISA, Public Funds, Foundations and Endowments, Wealth Management, Global Family Office and Sovereign Wealth Funds client segments. IRAS utilizes a suite of proprietary reporting applications to deliver a broad range of investment analysis from rates of return and asset allocation reporting to benchmark comparisons and attribution analysis. This analysis supports the evaluation, measurement and decision making process of key constituents. IRAS works in tandem with multiple operational and client service focused groups across Northern Trust.

The IRAS Wealth Associate performs operations, technical or administration work often in support of the investment performance reporting needs from Northern Trust's portfolio managers and investment associates located across the country. Requires technical knowledge of financial markets and financial concepts or equivalent experience. Performs tasks and duties according to established procedures. Requires full proficiency gained through job-related training, education and considerable on-the-job experience to perform a range of tasks, generally acquired from the IRAS Wealth Associate role. Takes a broad perspective to problems and spots new, less obvious solutions. Identifies key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data. Completes work with a limited degree of supervision. Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on practice and existing precedents or procedures

• Impacts the quality, timeliness and effectiveness of the team; uses discretion to modify work practices and processes to achieve results or improve efficiency

• Identify and solve complex problems that arise with little or no precedent

• Serve as the subject matter expert on performance methodology and use Northern Trust proprietary applications that calculate and report client performance.

• Supports team members with projects, auditing client data, inquiry resolution, and other tasks in support of client relationships

• Work with internal operations and client servicing partners to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all information provided to clients

• Provide ongoing training on IRAS applications to peers, portfolio managers, and investment associates.

• Collaborate in a team environment with other IRAS Wealth Associates to enhance reporting and analysis process and raise broad considerations around systematic issues that may arise.

• May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

• Requires a broad understanding of the job and applies quantitative, organizational, and problem-solving skills and knowledge in a range of processes, procedures and systems or requires deep skills in a single area

• Understands how the IRAS team integrates with other teams within Business Services, C&IS, and Wealth Management to accomplish team objectives

• Explains detailed and/or complicated information within the team

• Understands financial concepts, rate of return calculations, and familiarity with investment vehicles and benchmarks across multiple asset classes

• Excellent time management, working under pressure, and organizational acumen

• Strong organizational, written, and verbal client servicing ability

• Energetic, highly communicative, independent, self-starter

EXPERIENCE

• Accountable for own contributions

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, finance, technology or related field

• Internship experience in a related field

• Experience working in teams and taking leadership roles

• Interest in, or progress towards CFA, CIPM, CAIA or other investments-related professional designation is a plus

• Use of Microsoft Office tools, advanced Excel skills is a plus

• Exposure to Northern Trust or third party financial software is a plus
