Your Responsibilities

As a Safety Engineer for John Deere Seeding - Valley City located in Valley City, ND, you will assist the Business Unit Leader in planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating health and safety management programs and processes to promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all appropriate laws, regulations, and standards at a complex manufacturing facility. In addition, you will:

• Report to the Business Unit Leader
• Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations
• Support strategic and tactical plans as required to meet company goals around compliance and injury reduction
• Analyze appropriate health and safety metrics to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement
• Mentor and assist corrective action development and ensure follow-up
• Develop and deliver safety education and training for employees
• Collaborate with engineering to reduce process risk and improve ergonomics
• Plan, organize, and execute quality initiatives in your area of responsibility, including leading cross-functional, cross-departmental projects

What Skills You Need

• Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiations, and conflict resolution
• Understanding of occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, and ergonomic principles
• Ability to travel domestically on occasion

What Makes You Stand Out

• 1 or more years of experience in the Occupational Safety profession in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of governmental/agency regulatory requirements or legislation, occupational health principles, occupational safety programs, and ergonomic principles, with the ability to apply to workplace environments
• Investigative skills to determine root cause and conduct trend analysis of incidents
• Master's degree in a Science or Business Administration discipline

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related discipline
