Job Description:

Position Information: Employs innovative techniques to improve the overall well-being of patients by diagnosing and treating disorders, diseases, and injuries of the foot and lower leg.
 
Essential Duties:



  1. Diagnoses and treats disorders, diseases, and injuries of the foot and lower leg, including corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, bunions, heel spurs, and arch problems. 



  2. Ankle and foot injuries, deformities, and infections, and foot complaints associated with diabetes and other diseases.



  3. Refers patients to other physicians who will provide appropriate care. 



  4. Maintains working relationships with other healthcare providers on campus.



  5. Identifies potential clinical research projects related to foot diseases, disorders, and diabetes, and participates in clinical research initiated by other investigators.



  6. Participates in preventative strategies to avoid loss of function and/or amputations that can arise from end-organ complications from diabetes, disorders, and diseases.



  7. Prescribes medications, corrective devices, physical therapy or surgery.



  8. Ensures completion and maintenance of patient records, billing, insurance collections, and ordering of needed supplies. 



  9. Participates in teaching and training of medical students, residents, endocrine fellows, or other students/professional trainees. 



  10. Participates in professional lectures.



  11. Contributes to and participates in public service activities and outreach programs that teach and/or promote preventative foot care, particularly for diabetes patients, foot disorders, and disease, around the state and region.



  12. Maintains all required certification and privileges necessary to practice.



  13. Performs related duties as assigned or as required to successfully fulfill the function of the position.


Education: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree from an institution accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine.
 
Experience: Required: 60 months experience in the practice of podiatric medicine.
 
Certifications: All required certification and privileges from the applicable licensing authorities for the practice of podiatric medicine.
