Job Description:

Summary:This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager by providing support for all aspects of financial reporting, analysis of financial reports, internal liaison with management, external liaison with auditors, and numerous special projects. This position is also responsible for providing accounting support to company personnel and interacts with customers and vendors in the course of business by performing the following duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Oversees, monitors and works to improve accounting procedures, internal controls and database management.Develops operational procedures and documentation of data flow.Assists the Accounting Manager in producing accurate and timely financial statements.Helps maintain accountability of the financial resources of a company.Ensures compliance with all internal controls.Assists the Accounting Manager in preparation of audit documents for the external audit and assists the Accounting Manager in preparing for the external audit.Embraces and leads change not only in finance but also in the remainder of the company as appropriate.Serves as the only backup for the Accounting Manager position and requires enough knowledge of the Accounting Manager's job duties to provide temporary backup.Assists Accounting Manager with a variety of tasks as needed.Handles special projects as requested by management.Processes accounts payable on a daily basis. Matches purchase orders with receipts and invoices and enters them into Epicor, enters miscellaneous invoices into system and verifies quantities and pricing on invoices.Sets up new vendors.Processes daily invoicing.Processes credit card payments.Performs month-end closing journal entries.Maintains depreciation in FAS software.Prepare month-end account reconciliations.Prepares month-end general ledger journal entries. Updates and reconciles subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.Ensures appropriate lease documentation is in place and all payments are made in a timely manner.Assists with the completion of all balance sheet reconciliations and the bank reconciliation for the depository account on a monthly basisPrepares selected work papers for various auditsProvides general accounting support to business unitsEnsures the monthly closing process is completed timely and accuratelyPerforms necessary month-end closing proceduresMaintains an effective internal control framework around general ledger, closing and financial reporting activitiesManages customer collections and cash applications.Performs and assists with HR duties such as setting up new employees in ADP Total Source., asrequested.Perform duties related to coding accounts payable in TCC program.Completing check request as neededPerforms other duties and special projects as assigned.ACCOUNTABILITY:Assists the Corporate Accounting Manager in and during the preparation of the annual budget with regard to the capital equipment and depreciation.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.COMPETENCIES:To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:IntellectualAnalytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs work flows and procedures.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays, when needed.
Three to five years experience in accounting or related field.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
Familiar with financial statements, general closing procedures and internal controls.
Practical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Complete understanding of A/P and A/R systems and their relationship to one another.
Complete understanding of other accounting systems, to include but not limited to Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Payroll/Timekeeper, Inventory, etc.

This position requires some advanced Excel analysis skills, to include the ability to use the VLOOKUP function, use of pivot tables, concantenation, and other formulas necessary to perform analysis and prepare reports.
