Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an Entry-level Traffic Engineer, to join our Fairfax, VA office, May of 2022. Candidates who are eager to learn will perform Traffic Studies, Traffic Analyses and Traffic Engineering tasks such as Traffic Signal design, ITS and Electrical/Roadway lighting following state and municipal design standards and practices.

Responsibilities

The individual will work as part of a team in all facets of traffic engineering to include design and studies related to traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, work zone traffic control, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Connected and Autonomous (CAV) vehicle technology, roadway lighting, traffic operational analyses, and safety analyses. This individual will work under the direction of a licensed professional engineer and will also have the opportunity to participate in a broad range of transportation design elements including the design of horizontal and vertical roadway alignments and roadway plan preparation.

Required Skills & Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (with emphasis in Transportation)
  • 0-3 years' experience

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience using CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD)

  • Ability to work in a team environment
