Job Summary
Responsible for the procurement of material, services, and equipment in accordance with Coherent purchasing policies. Support contact and coordinator for all suppliers concerning purchase orders and delivery schedule. Responsible for supporting inventory control and shipping functions.
Essential Duties
Follow detailed instructions as outlined in controlled documentation and manufacturing policies and procedures
Follow company procedures for engineering change notices, non-conforming product, customer concerns, returned goods, and report to proper advisers
Place company purchase orders, confirm pricing and delivery dates, revise purchase orders as needed, and correspond with suppliers as required
Efficiently process all purchase requests while targeting cost reduction
Communicate order status and establish delivery date confirmation
Expedite delivery of materials as required
Provide product information and part specifications to vendors
Provide purchase order status to other departments as required
Maintain and update vendor database
Compile and maintain a database regarding purchases for inventory and production
Use computerized inventory tracking to ensure efficient quantities of materials arrive on time to support production needs
Provide input for the selection of suppliers who have the ability to meet or exceed all quality, manufacturing, engineering and total cost goals and objectives
Provide assistance and coordination for the resolution of all defective material in a timely manner with internal departments and suppliers
Provide input and maintain supply contracts
Perform quoting activities as required
Provide support with general lead time requests
Inventory control activities for production and non-production material
Provide support to import compliance as required
Maintain focus on critical material and supplies
Positively contribute to Coherent company goals and metrics
Other Responsibilities
Serve as back up for domestic and international shipping
Other duties as assigned

Education and Work Experience:
Education
High School diploma or GED required plus 3 years of supply chain related experience
Bachelor Degree in Business or Supply Chain preferred
Requirements/ Skills/ Qualifications
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.)
Accurate data entry skills required
Purchasing experience preferred
MRP/ERP experience highly preferred
Experience and understanding of LEAN principles preferred
Manufacturing experience preferred
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Must be able to sit and/or stand for an 8 to 10 hour shift
Must be able to lift 50 lbs from the floor or table height to a height of chest height, using proper lifting techniques
Must be open to flexible work hours
