Summary/Objective: 
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level working closely with HR management in supporting HR functions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, benefits administration, affirmative action and employment law compliance. 

Essential Functions: 


  1. Assists with non-exempt and exempt hiring for assigned areas/locations. Includes writing job description, recruitment, selection, hiring, new hire processing, benefits sign-up and orientation. Maintains applicant and employee activity in accordance with State and Federal requirements.  

  2. Provides for day-to-day employee relations, maintaining positive relationships, fostering open communication of business information and policies. Executes day-to-day HR responsibilities, applying knowledge of policies and procedures in the following areas: Employee Relations, Compensation, HR Policy and Procedures, Workplace Safety, Benefits, Reward Programs, and Recruiting.

  3. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee policies documents. Supports Company HR initiatives.  

  4. Maintains a strict standard of confidentiality in handling Company sensitive information, reports, and correspondence. Effectively and efficiently completes various special projects as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.

  5. Assists in planning, development and implementation of training supporting strategy company initiative. Monitors training processes and OJT development activities. Delivers new hire trainings (i.e. harassment, ethics).  

  6. Works closely with, provides back up for and provides mentoring to HR Specialists and Receptionists.

Required Education and Experience: 


  • BA/BS HR or related degree plus 3-5 years professional HR experience in manufacturing company or corporate environment including hiring professional and technical employees 


Required Skills and Abilities: 


  • Comprehensive understanding of all HR areas including employment laws, compensation, benefits, workers compensation, training and employee relations 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) 

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a confidential environment  

  • MS Office expertise

  • Strong Attention to Detail 

  • Ability to maintain a strict standard of confidentiality in handling Company sensitive information, reports, and correspondence

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong organizational skills, and the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization


Preferred Education and Experience: 


  • MBA or Master’s Degree 


Preferred Skills and Abilities:


  • HR experience in both union and non-union environment  

  • Oracle HR Systems experience
