Learning & Development Training Manager at Cigna

Job Description:

The Learning & Development/Technical Training Manager is responsible for managing learning initiatives including the strategic alignment of the learning function for the group's goals and objectives, training and documentation development and implementation, and assessing its outcomes. The Manager will proactively consult with SMEs, operations leadership, and business partners regarding employee training requirements, identify and monitor knowledge and skills needs in the organization, design, plan, and implement learning programs, and lead the development of Knowledge Management assets, resources, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to fulfill those needs.

Essential Functions


  • Identifies and assesses future and current training and documentation needs and drives suitable solutions while obtaining stakeholder support for imperative initiatives

  • Designs overall and role-specific training and employee development plans

  • Works across departments to up-train employees in both their specific role and function and the overall needs of the business

  • Provides formal design and development activities for eLearning courses, job specific curriculum, and large training projects

  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop and edit learning material (online, instructor-led, self-paced, assessments, etc.) and knowledge resources (SOPs, job aids, forms)

  • Recommends method for delivery such as instructor-led, eLearning, blended, documentation, or other media taking into account audience, business needs, and requirements

  • Manages the team of learning professionals (instructional designers and technical writers) required to develop, manage, and deliver training and knowledge resources

  • Assesses own L&D team's skills, performance, and productivity to identify areas of improvement

  • Plans, distributes and monitors team's work assignments, evaluates and provides feedback on work performance, and motivates, develops and coaches team members

  • Maintains an extensive knowledge of instructional design theory, learning principles, and the full training cycle

  • Maintains an understanding of technical writing trends, information mapping developments, and KMS best practices

  • Provides consulting on new application development and enhancement projects to champion user perspective

  • Works with L&D Director to develop strategic business work plan goals and identify business needs. Tracks and periodically reports progress to senior management.

  • Participates in cross-functional task forces and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of 5+ relevant experience years of instructional design role, learning consultant, knowledge management, or related role

  • Minimum of additional 2+ years of management experience or equivalent work experience

  • Experience designing and implementing curricula

  • Previous experience in healthcare preferred

Computer or Other Skills:


  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office and Articulate 360 required

  • Expert in the full training cycle and adult learning techniques

  • Extensive experience in conducting needs analysis and operations applications functionality

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Excellent internal and external customer service skills

  • Strong organizational skills including project management and attention to detail

  • Experience managing complex operational work units

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
