Custom Applicator- MN

Custom Applicator positions are offered in a variety of locations through our member cooperatives, retailers, and independent owner system.

Summary:

It is the primary responsibility of the Custom Applicator to accurately apply plant nutrients and crop protection products to customer's fields according to specifications set by our Agronomists and customers. The Custom Applicator will complete this in a manner that will optimize the cooperative's market share and savings, improve the cooperative's efficiencies, help achieve the cooperative's mission and goals and result in outstanding customer service. The Applicator must maintain a positive attitude that promotes a favorable image of the cooperative.

Essential Functions of the Job:


  • Applies fertilizer and chemicals accurately, in accordance with manufacturer's requirements and the customer's crop plan.

  • Responsible for proper calibration of fertilizer and spraying equipment.

  • Communicates with patrons and employees in a manner that will create support and loyalty for cooperative.


  • Assists operations/sales staff with providing outstanding customer service to our patrons.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of spreading and spraying equipment.

  • Assist location management with regular facility and equipment maintenance as needed.

  • Assist with facility housekeeping to maintain a clean and orderly facility.

  • Attends safety related job training provided by the cooperative.


  • Abides by all safety policies and PPE requirements.

  • Additional duties as assigned by management

Education & Licenses:


  • High school diploma required

  • 2 yr agriculture degree from an accredited agronomy program preferred

  • Must maintain current custom applicator's license;

  • Must maintain a valid CDL driver's license with tanker an hazardous material endorsements, DOT required medical certification and comply with all documentation requirement mandated by the DOT.

  • Frequent standing, walking and sitting.

  • Vision abilities required include close, distance and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Regular climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching above, below and at shoulder level.

  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50lbs, have full use of both arms and legs and good finger and manual dexterity.

  • Frequent work entailing continuous exposure to dirt, dust, dampness, airborne particles, extreme weather conditions and temperatures, heavy/moving equipment and moderate noise levels, and other attributes common to such sites.
