VIAVI Solutions is hiring a systems administrator/engineer to join a global infrastructure team responsible for build, support and operations of company critical business systems and infrastructure. The qualified candidate will provide support for Linux, Windows, AD, Office 365 and VMWare virtualization environments located across the global in VIAVI datacenters The candidate must be a self starter, customer focused and committed to continuous improvement.Required technical capabilities:
Strong working knowledge on Linux, Windows Server OS, Active Directory, Office 365, VMWare virtualization and NetApp storage including deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, performance planning, capacity planning and continuity planning
Excellent knowledge of roles and features of a Windows Server and Linux
Good knowledge of various backup solutions including NetBackup, Backup Exec and TSM
Excellent understanding of Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networks (SAN) and network technologies
Heavily assist in the planning, design and implementation of new environments based on business requirements
Ensure company standard server technologies are being followed
Actively seeks out opportunities to improve existing practices, procedures, and technology implementations
Research and implement new technologies to improve the enterprise infrastructure
Defines, monitors, and troubleshoots system performance within the environment
Performing routine tasks to improve the current setup
Provide advanced level expertise on IT issues relating to Windows Server, AD, O365, ESX, etc.
Facilitate knowledge sharing by creating and maintaining detailed and comprehensive documentation and diagrams
Position will periodically require being available to perform maintenance during non-business hours and over weekends
Experience in the following is a plus:
Amazon Web Services (IaaS)
Azure cloud
Additional requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience including host platform security, server consolidation, and server virtualization
Experience with building and maintaining high-availability (>99%) environments
Provide support in performance monitoring, back-ups, reporting, root cause analysis, and resolution
Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions
Enterprise level experience managing infrastructure environments and application deployments
Ability to collaborate with a team working across multiple locations
Strong customer service skills
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Establishing and maintaining strong relationships within IT and with the business units
Ability to excel in a collaborative and distributed team environment
Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and shift priorities quickly
Willingness to travel internationally if required (0-10%)
