Job Description:

Join the Agronomy team at one of the largest, most beautiful, and top private country clubs in North America, Desert Mountain Club, as a Mechanic III!

In this role, you will be responsible for the shop condition, safe mechanical condition of all mowers, utility vehicles, and mechanical equipment. Work closely with the Equipment Manager / Golf Course Superintendent to plan and coordinate repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of all equipment to ensure it’s available for daily use on the golf course.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who strives for excellence with a great attitude and strong work ethic. At least 5 years’ of well-rounded experience as head golf course mechanic, assistant golf course mechanic and/or related mechanical experience and skilled in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs is required. 


  • Typical shifts are Monday - Friday within the hours of (5:30am - 2:00pm), schedule varies during the course of the year. Must be available to work weekends, for coverage.

JOB DETAILS

Responsibilities:


  • Prepare requisitions based on inventory control and budget.  Review with Equipment Manager, and the Golf Course Superintendent. Maintain budget with parts purchases and tool purchases.

  • Prioritize and assign equipment repairs for other mechanics.

  • Ensure all records are updated to Desert Mountain standards, both electronic and paper.

  • Work with Golf Course Superintendent to schedule Mechanics based on golf course needs.

  • Ensure OSHA requirements are met in recycling and disposal of used material, including batteries and hazardous materials.

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment and equipment systems. This includes, but is not limited to, operator and equipment safety switch operation, engine tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, tire repair.

  • Ensure safe and proper operation of hydraulic, brake, fuel, steering, electrical, and cooling systems.

  • Repair engine/drive train assemblies, starters, cutting units, roller bearing and seals, carburetors, fuel pumps, hydraulic motors and hoses. Install batteries, tires, lights, and glass.

  • Adjust, sharpen, and reel mowers to ensure proper reel to bed knife adjustment and proper height-of-cut on all cutting units. 

  • Perform occasional welding, machining, and painting. 

  • Follow planned maintenance procedures and record keeping. 

  • Maintain parts inventory necessary to effect equipment repairs. 

  • Train, educate and mentor Mechanic I and Mechanic II employees.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:


  • Required to repair, maintain, and monitor equipment performance – Regularly

  • Exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather – Occasionally  

  • Must tolerate handling of native Sonoran Desert plant material.

  • Required to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 80 pounds – Frequently  

  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle – Frequently
