Your Responsibilities

As a Safety Professional for John Deere located in the Quad Cities IA/IL, you will complete 3 8-month rotational assignments (no relocation needed in between) to gain experience as a safety professional in a manufacturing setting while continuing to develop technical skills and abilities. Each rotation will be located at a different John Deere manufacturing facility location with the IA/IL Quad Cities. Within each rotational assignment you will:


  • Report to the Corporate Safety Competency Lead and assist the Safety Manager in planning, designing, implementing and evaluating health and safety management programs and processes to promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all appropriate laws, regulations and standards at a complex manufacturing facility.
  • Support strategic and tactical plans as required to meet company goals around compliance and injury reduction
  • Assist in the analysis of health and safety metrics to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Conduct periodic inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Assist in corrective action development and ensure follow-up
  • Deliver, and assist in the development of, safety education and training for employees
  • Collaborate with engineering to reduce process risk and improve ergonomics

What Skills You Need


  • Knowledge of governmental/agency regulatory requirements or legislation, occupational health principles, occupational safety programs and ergonomic principles, with the ability to apply to workplace environments
  • Understanding of occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene and ergonomic principles
  • Must be willing to relocate to another John Deere facility upon the completion of the rotational experience

What Makes You Stand Out


  • 1-3 years of experience in the Occupational Safety profession in a manufacturing environment
  • Investigation skills to determine root cause and conduct trend analysis of incidents
  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution

Education

Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related discipline
