Job summary

INOVIO Is hiring a Director/Senior Director, Global Medical Communications (the title will be determined taking into consideration the successful candidate's education and relevant experience) is responsible for executing medical communications strategy across INOVIO's programs, both in the US and abroad. Via the development of medical and scientific content, the person in this role facilitates credible, consistent, compliant scientific and medical information provision and scientific and medical information exchange with key public and private clinical and policy stakeholders. The Director/Sr. Director will be responsible for leading effective publication planning teams and helping the team deliver on the plans. The Director/Sr. Director Global Medical Communications will also be responsible for developing and maintaining internal libraries across programs, including key references for each program, and Scientific Response Documents (SRDs) and will assist as needed in the development of internal "white papers" and other medical-to-medical initiatives. This person is expected to help position Inovio as a trusted healthcare partner whose products and products in development help address medical needs. This person will report to the VP of Medical Affairs and work closely day-to-day with the program-specific Medical Affairs Directors and cross-functional medical and scientific internal stakeholders.

Essential job functions and duties

• Publication Planning leadership across programs


• Serve as internal lead medical writer as needed for abstracts, manuscripts, posters


• Primary INOVIO liaison to a publication agency and its writers, scientific directors


• May represent INOVIO at congresses and within medical/scientific societies and coalitions.


• Proactively and reactively provides accurate, balanced and timely medical and scientific information internally and externally upon request


• Communicates regularly with internal Inovio stakeholders to ensure critical information is utilized.


• Up to 10% travel (post pandemic); US and ex-US

Requirements

• MD, PharmD, or PhD strongly preferred.


• Minimum 10 years' experience with medical writing for the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Overall publication planning experience highly desirable. Experience in Medical Information a plus.


• Proven experience in building strategies for working with multiple, diverse authors and stakeholders.


• Experience working with infectious diseases, vaccines, oncologic and/or HPV related diseases.


• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage/ influence internal and external stakeholders


• Superior verbal and written communication skills


• Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally


• Strategic thinker with strong vision, energy and passion


• Proactive and performance oriented with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work in a highly-matrixed management environment


• Solid working knowledge of existing laws, regulations and policies applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.


• Strong commitment to ethics and compliance.
