Primary Duties

Responsible for providing service for facility electrical systems of general facility and GMP areas.  Performs scheduled corrective maintenance of complex electrical equipment and systems.  Evaluates equipment performance and implements improvements to system design and maintenance programs.

Responsibilities: Job Function and Description

  • Performs scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical power distribution systems, emergency power generation equipment and UPS systems.

  • Coordinates and schedules all maintenance activities with customers including repairs, preventive maintenance, new installation, and upgrades.  Ensures all scheduled work is reviewed for compliance and impact to processes is minimal.

  • Manages electrical upgrades and electrical repair projects. Solicit quotations and review contractor proposals.

  • Manages fire alarm systems including repairs, maintenance, troubleshooting, and impairments for projects and maintenance activities.

  • Orders all electrical spares and maintains inventory.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • Valid Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician license for 5+ years.

  • Extensive experience in bio-tech industry preferred but not mandatory. 

  • Experience with power generation equipment.

  • Experience with industrial fire alarm systems. 

  • Experience with infra-red scanning (thermography).

Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

  • Excellent communications skills and ability to coordinate, train, and supervise contractors at multiple locations simultaneously.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Good knowledge of plant facility systems and utilities. 

  • Technical writing skills and ability to document per GMP. 

  • Ability to plan, schedule, and execute scheduled plant shutdowns for high voltage, UPS’s, ATS’s, and electrical distribution.

Complexity and Problem Solving

  • Troubleshoot complex problems on electrical systems, facilities equipment, fire alarm systems, and utility/process equipment. 

  • Makes decisions on operations and maintenance of critical plant equipment and systems. 

  • Handles multiple emergencies and prioritizes workload.

  • Implements design improvements on electrical systems.

     Internal: Facilities management, HVAC, facilities planning, and engineering

         Vendor: Interstate, P&H Electric, Relco, NE Fire, Weld power, CS&T etc.

         Customer: MFG, QA, QC, R&D, PD development groups, supply chain, validation
