Associate Quality Manager

The Associate Quality Manager will oversee the Enterprise Quality Management System (EQMS) to establish/maintain safe feed operating procedures in the facility. Responsible for providing annual quality training, acting as the liaison with regulatory agencies, managing laboratory activities and personnel, and leading customer complaint investigation and corrective action(s). Responsible for leading the plant quality programs and ensuring safe production of approximately 20,000 tons per year of fatbase ingredients for internal and external customers. Manage an effective lab to ensure minimal product rework.

Implement new EQMS standards as required. Maintain each written program with updated plant and personnel information.

Complete annual quality training for all plant employees as required.

Drive compliance for each standard by monitoring production procedures and developing corrective actions, when required.

Ensure that EQMS required self-assessments, plant inspections and process validations are completed.

Ensure good housekeeping practices are in place and proper documentation is completed.

Oversee pest control program by managing outside vendor and verifying current processes are adequately protecting the facility.

Lead regulatory, customer and internal quality audits.

Manage required facility registrations.

Oversee lab functions to ensure proper quality testing of each product.

Manage lab personnel and processes to improve efficiencies and reduce resource gaps.

Manage the lab equipment through proper preventative maintenance and calibrations.

Manage all hold and release of ingredients and finished products, including rework, while providing appropriate dispositions when necessary.

Follow-up to out of tolerance lab results and guide lab/production personnel to the proper disposition.

Assist formulations by analyzing product test results, leading production trials, identifying trends, and recommending formula adjustments.

Work with customers and sales to follow-up to customer concerns/complaints by completing an internal investigation and reporting results.

Drive quality improvements through leading or monitoring MRO capital project work.

Provide capital forecasts for quality related needs.

Assist CI/TMM and new product development projects by providing key quality support and technical expertise.

Provide a safe and hospitable work environment and promote environmental awareness and impact.

Make safety a part of every employee's job duties. Assist in hazard analysis and process safety reviews as needed.

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelors degree or 4+ years of experience in quality management.

3+ years of experience in food/feed manufacturing;

3+ years of experience interacting with external stakeholders (i.e. suppliers, customers);

Ability to work both as a member of a team and independently, with limited supervision; demonstrated effective communication skills - written and verbal; practical knowledge of business processes involving quality, food safety and regulatory; demonstrated effective ability to work with diverse groups within and outside reporting relationships; demonstrated effective problem solving/decision making; proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
