This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering Services and will lead a multifaceted Technical Services group serving all of Kinder Morgan in the following disciplines:
Process simulation to assess changes and optimize operations. Supports gas processing plants with a variety of equipment and process modifications, assessments, operational changes
Process Safety Management
Provides technical and compliance expertise to field locations for PSM and RMP.
Helps to manage company's Mechanical Integrity program
Engine and Turbine Emissions Testing
Provide EPA reference method testing services for company's combustion sources
Provide related technical support and training to field operations
Conduct failure analysis and positive material identification services
Review and technical review of welding procedures and material suppliers
Chemistry Analysis Lab
Analyze liquid samples from company assets with a focus on corrosive properties
Analyze corrosion coupons
Fire Protection Engineering
Conduct risk assessments to identify risk reduction opportunities
Support fire protection system installation projects
Pipeline/Compressor Station Over Pressure Protection
Identify all OPP devices, and implement improved program for capacity review
Roles and responsibilities:
Provide leadership for achieving operational excellence by effectively managing and providing guidance to multi-disciplined Engineers functioning in a technical support role.
Focus on strengthening the effectiveness of the team, build knowledge with training and mentoring, and promote high quality professional service.
Identify and pursue improvement opportunities for efficiency, effectiveness, safety, reliability of the company's operations and department's services.
Responsible for multiple operating and maintenance (O&M) and capital budgets and must effectively develop, maintain, track and forecast O&M and Capital Expenditure budgets for multiple Responsibility Centers (RCs), and Sustaining Capital projects.
Lead various multi-functional groups on company initiatives. This includes working and communicating with all stakeholders (Operations, Project Management, Commercial, Business Development, Environmental Health & Safety, etc.) to meet initiative goals, deadlines and commitments.
Understanding of Federal and State regulations governing gas processing plants, PSM and emissions testing.
Stay abreast of industry standards, practices and technological developments as appropriate to support functions within the department.
Collaborate with other directors and VPs for consistent implementation of company policies, practices and alignment of goals - examples of interacting departments include Field Operations, Risk Engineering, Project Management, Engineering Design, Legal, Business Development.
Minimum 12 years of experience in the Natural Gas Industry with strong Managerial and Technical background
Knowledgeable of pipeline and terminal systems including construction practices, system functions, compressors/pumps, measurement and processing facilities
Strong presentation and report writing skills
Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
Required to carry a cell phone and respond as needed during working and non-working hours
The position will be based out of Houston, TX and will require travel (5-15%)
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited school is required.
