In this exciting role as a Principal NPD Quality Engineer you will have responsibility for providing quality leadership to develop and release cutting edge surgical navigation and robotic technologies designed to alleviate pain, restore health and extend life.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, launch and stabilize new products through new product introduction (NPI) process.
  • Lead design quality activities in support of development for electromechanical systems that utilize microcontroller technology, customized/off the shelf PCBs and software applications
  • Provide leadership to the quality extended team
  • Responsible and empowered to establish the quality and reliability strategies and DRM metrics for the project
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • Provide statistical support and expertise and analytical problem solving for product development and manufacturing.
  • Review and approve design control, manufacturing, quality, engineering and validation / qualification. documents for conformance business practices and departmental procedures.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 7+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality OR Advanced degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 5+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality.

Nice to Have - (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's degree preferred
  • New product development experience
  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 14971(risk management), 21 CFR 820, IEC 60601-1 and/or MDD/MDR
  • Familiar with reliability analysis and test methods
  • Strong working knowledge of electromechanical assemblies, special processes, design verification/validation techniques and design control
  • Experience driving risk management discussions, particularly as it relates to cascading identified product issues/hazards into potential user harms
  • Advanced knowledge of Quality Engineering/Scientific methods and techniques and applied statistics of increasing complexity
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer, and a Green Belt in one or more of the Process Excellence roadmaps (e.g. Six Sigma, Lean)
  • Medical device experience; or experience in a regulated environment
  • Strong analytical skills and statistical techniques
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within team and across functions
