Alcoa’s U.S. portfolio includes Alcoa's corporate headquarters (ACC), Alcoa's Technology Center (ATC), four smelters, hydroelectric power and a calcined coke plant. Every day is a new and exciting challenge at the Alcoa Technical Center in New Kensington, PA, just north of Pittsburgh; whether working virtually, on-site, or a hybrid of the two, we develop new technologies with our Breakthrough Technologies team that has the potential to impact the life of millions of people, and foster the sustainable footprint from Alcoa to the world. It was here where we developed the technology recently announced in partnership with Rio Tinto, called ELYSIS™, where we will produce aluminum with ZERO emission of greenhouse gases. In fact, we will actually be generating oxygen to our atmosphere during the aluminum production process– a revolution to the aluminum industry!

Alcoa is looking for a Site Coordinator to be responsible for providing site administrative leadership for the Alcoa Technical Center (ATC), which includes Breakthrough Smelting, Aluminum Smelting & Casting Centers of Excellence (CoE), and Information Technology & Automation Solutions (ITAS) teams, consisting of approximately 100 employees and contractors.

Major activities/Key Challenges:

Provide general administrative support for the entire ATC site including, but not limited to:

Safety, Security, & Compliance

  • Contribute as a member of the ATC Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) lead team.

  • Coordinate medical surveillance testing for ATC site within EHS protocols

  • Manage ATC site security protocols, response planning, hardware systems, & visitor processes

  • Assist with internal audits as required, including financial, EHS, and ITAS

Information & Technology

  • Maintain Alcoa Technical Library, and provide technical documents to global users as needed

  • Manage business sensitive records including technical reports and non-disclosure agreements

  • Serve as Technical Business Process Owner (BPO) for the secure data vault, which includes maintenance of access control lists

  • Support team members with ITAS requests for hardware, software, and security management


  • Build and manage requisitions for procurement for ATC within the Oracle application suite ensuring accurate documentation, sourcing channels, and management of approval hierarchy.

Resource Support & Communications

  • Serve as Site Business Process Owner for resource timesheet reporting platform

  • Support site onboarding program and exit processes for employees with human resources

  • Maintain communication distribution lists, and coordination of conference room resources

  • Maintain a network of professionals across Alcoa functional areas including safety, finance, human resources, ethics & compliance, legal, procurement, and operating locations.

Facility Integrity

  • Support site facility reliability manager to coordinate performance of third party service providers relative to approved scope and schedule

  • Develop and maintain documentation with domain expert input for facility and equipment reliability programs, including work definition and preventative maintenance schedules

  • Degree and 2 + years experience or “combined equivalent experience”

  • Highly proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Oracle, etc.)

  • Possess reasoned judgment and excellent interpersonal skills to make decisions, including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality

  • High attention to detail, self-motivated and ability to work independently and desire to learn
